The 14th Subaru Prime Focus Spectrograph (PFS) Collaboration Meeting was held over three days, from January 7 to 9, 2025, at Kavli IPMU in Japan. We had approximately 120 in-person participants and 60 online participants, for a total of about 180 participants. We had our PFS colleagues from both the technical team and the science working groups. In particular, with the completion of the PFS instrument, we expressed our gratitude to each of the instrument/software teams (Caltech/JPL, ASIAA, Max Planck Institutes, LAM, Brazil, JHU and Princeton). We also heard detailed reports on the commissioning observations and the instrument performance, which the technical team has found so far.
Each of the PFS Science Working groups (Cosmology, Galaxy Evolution and Galactic Archaeology) reported on the current status of science cases, survey design, and observation strategies. The PFS Subaru Strategic Program (PFS SSP), which will use 360 nights of the Subaru Telescope over about 5-6 years, will finally start in March 2025. The PFS team discussed strategies, issues, and action items in preparation for the PFS SSP survey. The team was filled with anticipation and excitement, and the meeting concluded successfully.
