Royal Medal started in 1825. Each year, the Royal Society awards three persons; the two persons who did the most important contribution to advance natural knowledge of physics and biology, respectively, and one person who significantly contributed to applied science. The honorable medals are known as “Queen Medals”, because the Queen hands the medals to winners. In the past, Michael Faraday won this medal for contribution to electronic, magnetoelectronic science.

Prof. Richard Ellis won this honorable medal this year for his contribution to huge advancement of telescope and instrumentation and understanding cosmology. Among all such activities, Prof. Ellis is leading the PFS science team.

Congratulations, Richard!
