Prof. Olivier Le Fèvre passed away on June 25, 2020 at the age of 59. He had been fighting brain cancer with courage and lucidity for the past 2 and a half years.

Prof. Le Fèvre was the key person to get the PFS project off the ground, bringing Laboratoire d’Astrophysique de Marseille as a full partner of the collaboration.
He had a strong scientific vision especially in high-redshift science as well as expertise in instrumentation that made it possible for the amazing team of engineers at LAM to work on the PFS.  Under his leadership, LAM has been making crucial contributions to the developments of spectrograph system and 1D pipeline both of which are at the heart of PFS.

The PFS collaboration will dearly miss Prof. Le Fèvre.
