On January 10, 2025, Kavli IPMU and the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ) held a joint press conference to report on the completion of the Subaru Telescope PFS instruments and introduce the expected science from Subaru PFS. Hitoshi Murayama, the PI of the PFS project, presented an overview of PFS and its science cases. Naoyuki Tamura, the Project Manager of the PFS project, presented the history of the instrument’s development, fabrication, assembly, and testing over the past 15 years. Naoyuki also showed actual spectra of several objects in the Andromeda Galaxy (M31), which were taken during a night of commissioning observations at the end of October 2024. Richard Ellis (UCL), Michael Strauss (Princeton University) and Masahiro Takada also joined the conference from the team. They received many questions from the media during and after the conference. The PFS news was widely covered by various media outlets (TV, newspapers, online news, etc.).
