Dr. Hiroshige Yoshida, a software engineer at Subaru Telescope, passed away on 12 November 2024 because of disease.

Dr. Yoshida was a skillful software engineer and joined the PFS project in 2017. Soon after joining PFS, he discussed actively with colleagues at regular meeting and other places. He developed temperature control system for PFS Spectrograph Clean Room, and control software for guiding system using the Auto Guide cameras on Prime Focus Instrument. He also worked hard for the operation infrastructures and maintained them at the summit. Dr. Yoshida participated in the engineering observations since 2021, and led test activities of guiding functionalities such as communication with the telescope, and guide performance. Without him, we never had achieved these test items nor developed PFS nearly completion.

The PFS collaboration will dearly miss Hiroshige Yoshida.
